EARLY VOTING: OCTOBER 14–31 | ELECTION DAY: NOVEMBER 4

WHAT IS THE PSC?

The Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) is a 5-member elected body of all Republicans who regulate our electricity, natural gas, and telecommunications across Georgia. These commissioners make important decisions like, how much you and your family pays for power, how much of our power comes from clean energy, how much companies are allowed to pollute the air we breathe and the water we drink. This year, Republicans Tim Echols and Fitz Johnson are up for election.

THEY’RE COSTING US OVER $500 A YEAR

Working families shouldn’t have to choose between paying the bills and putting food on the table - but Tim and Fitz are keeping our power bills sky high. Georgia Power customers have the nation’s fifth highest utility bills, and that’s because Republicans Tim and Fitz have voted at least 10 times to raise rates on customers, costing the average Georgia family over $500 more a year for their utility bills.

THEY’RE GIVING YOUR MONEY TO WALL STREET BILLIONAIRES

Tim and Fitz have let Georgia Power rake in massive profits. Last year Georgia Power and its parent company raked in a staggering $4.4 billion in profits, even as our bills go up and up.

What’s worse? We’ve calculated that approximately $0.28 of every dollar goes to Georgia Power shareholders, padding the pockets of Wall Street billionaires.

THEY’RE CONTAMINATING OUR WATER AND AIR

As Republicans Tim and Fitz put profits over people, they continue to let utility corporations contaminate the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the land and soil where we grow the food our children eat.

They voted to keep some of the dirtiest coal plants in the nation online, allowing Georgia utility companies to continue contaminating Georgia’s air and water unchecked, all while slow-walking progress on affordable and clean energy like solar.

THEY’RE COZYING UP TO THE CORPORATIONS THEY REGULATE

As big greedy corporations continue to jack up our costs, Tim and Fitz look the other way and cash their campaign checks. Executives of Georgia Power and other utility companies are pumping thousands of dollars into their campaigns, with over half their campaign dollars coming directly from companies and people connected to the corporations they are supposed to regulate.

Their decisions are driven by what’s best for Georgia Power’s profits, not the people of Georgia.

THERE’S EVEN MORE CORRUPTION THAN WHAT YOU THINK

Tim has a history of abusing his office for his own personal gain. He’s tried to bully the Masters’ into giving him free tickets so that he can “visit with constituents and guests”

And for Fitz? It’s all favors. He gave Brian Kemp a $2,500 campaign contribution right before he was appointed to this seat on the PSC. And then after he was appointed, he gave another $12,600 to Kemp’s re-election campaign. He’s yet to actually run for election - until now!

IT’S TIME FOR TIM AND FITZ TO GO

They Raised Your Bill

Tim and Fitz have been driven by what’s best for themselves and Georgia Power’s profits. The more perks Tim and Fitz accept from these special interests, the harder it is for the people of Georgia to trust that they are serving our best interests. We need leaders who will stand up to profit-hungry corporations, lower our costs, and ensure our children can grow up with clean air to breathe and clean water to drink.

You have the power to make sure that the Public Service Commission has members who put Georgia families first. Stand up to the corporations buying off the PSC and fire Tim and Fitz.
