WHAT IS THE PSC?
The Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) is a 5-member elected board who regulate our electricity, natural gas, and telecommunications across Georgia. So far, Republicans on the PSC have:
Raised your bills by over $500 a year
Made us pay the price for historic data center growth
Signed off on record profits for utility companies they regulate
This year, Fitz Johnson and Josh Tolbert are the Republican nominees for two seats on the PSC.
Republicans on the PSC, including Fitz Johnson, have paved the way for Georgia to become a data center destination. They rubber stamped a $15.6 billion energy expansion that could raise your bills for decades. All to power data centers that haven't even shown up yet. And they've been behind the scenes signing off on OpenAI's sweetheart deal in Savannah against the will of the people.

Josh Tolbert might talk a big game about wanting to regulate data centers, but his own website tells a different story. He was proudly "pro-data center" until as recently as July of this year, then he changed it to fool voters.

THEY’RE COSTING US OVER $500 A YEAR
Working families shouldn’t have to choose between paying the bills and putting food on the table - but Republicans on the PSC are keeping our power bills sky high. They have voted at least 10 times to raise rates on customers, costing the average Georgia family over $500 more a year for their utility bills.
Last July, Fitz claimed he was freezing your rates, but he left the door open for his Republican colleagues to pass on the costs of storm damage onto ratepayers, which the Republicans on the PSC did this past May.

AND THEY’RE COZYING UP TO THE UTILITY COMPANIES THEY REGULATE
As big greedy corporations continue to jack up our costs, Republicans on the PSC look the other way and cash their checks. Utility executives and dirty energy providers have pumped hundreds of thousands of dollars into their campaigns, with nearly 70% of Fitz's contributions and nearly 40% of Josh's campaign contributions coming directly from companies and people connected to the corporations they are supposed to regulate.
Even worse, a family trust tied to coal mines is funding a dark money group to support Josh Tolbert, and has already spent nearly $50,000 to get him on the PSC. Their decisions are driven by what’s best for billionaires, shareholders, and corporate profits, not the people of Georgia.
THEY’RE GIVING YOUR MONEY TO WALL STREET BILLIONAIRES
Republicans on the PSC have let Georgia Power rake in massive profits. Just in the first six months of this year, Southern Company, the parent company of Georgia Power, reported $2.8 billion in record-breaking earnings, even as our bills go up and up.
What’s worse? We’ve calculated that nearly $0.25 of every dollar you pay on your power bill goes to Georgia Power shareholders. It’s time to elect leaders who will stand up to corporate greed and put people — not profits — first.

AND DESTROYING OUR WATER AND AIR
As Republicans on the PSC put profits over people, they continue to let utility companies contaminate the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the land and soil where we grow the food our children eat.
They voted to keep some of the dirtiest coal plants in the nation online, allowing Georgia Power to continue contaminating Georgia’s air and water unchecked, all while slow-walking progress on affordable and clean energy like solar. And remember, Josh Tolbert took money from a family trust that made their money in a coal mine.
WE CAN'T KEEP REPUBLICANS IN CHARGE OF THE PSC
Republicans on the PSC have been driven by what’s best for themselves and billionaire profits. The more money and perks they accept from these special interests, the harder it is for the people of Georgia to trust that they are serving our best interests.
We need leaders who will stand up to profit-hungry corporations, lower our costs, and ensure our children can grow up with clean air to breathe and clean water to drink. You have the power to make sure that the Public Service Commission has members who put Georgia families first. Stand up to the corporations buying off the PSC and don't vote for Republicans on the PSC.
